Sets¶
For whom: owner and purchasing · Where: Admin → Articles → Stock tab
A set is a bundle: "Register" means terminal plus printer plus TSE. The customer buys one article at one price, the stock books off three stock levels.
Prerequisite
The Set checkbox belongs to the recipe and also appears without the merchandise management module. It can only be used on articles that already have a recipe (bill of materials).
1. Create a set¶
Admin → Articles → open article → Stock tab
- In the Recipe section, enter the components: per component the article and the quantity per set.
- Tick the "Set (bundle of components)" checkbox.
- Save.
A set does not keep a stock level of its own
The checkbox switches off Track stock and Track serial numbers on the set article — even if they were set before. Otherwise two stock levels for the same goods would stand side by side ("3 registers" and "3 terminals + 3 printers + 3 TSE"), and at some point they would differ without anyone knowing since when.
A set without components cannot be saved. If the last component is removed, the checkbox goes too.
Existing stock is booked out on conversion
If an article with existing stock is subsequently declared a set, DiKAS books out the available remaining quantity as a loss. Reserved devices with a serial number block the conversion: first release the reservation, then save again.
2. The price of the set¶
Below the costing is a box of its own for the set:
| Row | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Component total | What the components would cost individually |
| Package discount | The difference to the set price |
| Assemblable sets | How many sets can be built from the current stock |
| Per component | Quantity per set, unit price, stock level, and whether it is the bottleneck |
The set price is a price of its own
It never changes because a component becomes more expensive. The component total is shown as a suggestion, with the button "Apply total" — nothing happens by itself. An automatically adjusted selling price would be a price change that nobody decided on.
"Assemblable sets" counts across all stocks
The number says how many sets can be built in the whole house — not how many at a specific storage location. If a component does not track stock, the answer is "unknown", not 0.
3. Sale and delivery¶
On a sale — at the register or as a direct sale — the stock level of each component falls by its quantity per set. The set itself keeps no stock and is therefore not booked off. A void mirrors this exactly.
On the delivery note, the set item appears with its components as sub-lines — each with its own serial number, provided the component tracks serial numbers. The customer buys one register and gets three individually traceable devices.
When creating the delivery note, each component that tracks serial numbers gets a scan field of its own; the target quantity is quantity per set times item quantity.
Issuing delivers all components to the customer, cancelling brings exactly these back.
A set appears in the delivery note's article selection
Even though it keeps no stock of its own — it is, after all, what the customer ordered. What the stock actually provides is decided by the components.
A practical example¶
The set "Register package" consists of terminal (1×), receipt printer (1×) and TSE (1×).
- Create the article Register package, fill the recipe with the three components, tick Set.
- The box shows component total €1,180, assemblable sets 4 — the bottleneck is the TSE with 4 pieces.
- Set the selling price to €1,099 (the discount is shown next to it as the difference).
- Sale of one package → stock terminal −1, printer −1, TSE −1. The register package itself has no stock.
- Delivery note for one package → four lines on paper: the set and its three components with serial numbers.
When something does not work¶
| Message or observation | Cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The Set checkbox cannot be clicked | The article does not have a recipe yet | Enter components |
| "Track stock" cannot be set on the set | A set keeps no stock of its own | As intended |
| Assemblable sets: unknown | A component does not track stock | Switch on Track stock on the component article |
| The set price does not change although purchasing became more expensive | The set price is a price of its own | "Apply total", if desired |
| The article cannot be converted to a set | A device with a serial number is reserved | Release the reservation and save again |
| The delivery note requires more serial numbers than expected | Quantity per set times item quantity | Check the target number in the scan field |
