Receipt Templates: All Ticket Types and Their Settings

This page explains every ticket type in DiKAS: what it is for, when it is printed, every switch in the receipt editor with its effect, and what the printed ticket looks like. If you only want to know where to change something, see Settings → Receipt Templates.

Overview

You reach the receipt editor under Admin → Settings → Receipt Templates. Six tabs run along the top, one per ticket type:

Tab Ticket type Printed For whom
Receipt Customer receipt on payment, and afterwards on request Guest
Kitchen Consolidated order ticket when ordering, per station (kitchen, bar …) Kitchen, bar
Extra ticket Extra ticket when ordering, on one specific printer Station that needs certain items
Void Void ticket when a receipt is voided Guest, accounting
Day-end report Z-ticket at the end-of-day report Owner, tax advisor
Voucher Voucher when a voucher is sold Buyer, recipient

Which item goes to which printer (kitchen, bar, extra ticket) is not set here but on the items and printers – see Printer control. The receipt editor only determines how the ticket looks.

What all ticket types have in common

These fields are at the top of every tab:

Field Effect
Name Name of the template (for orientation only).
Width (characters) Characters per line, 32 to 80. Match it to the paper: usually 42 for 80 mm paper, fewer for 58 mm.
Separator character The character used for separator lines, e.g. - or =.
Currency symbol Printed after every amount. EUR is usual in text mode because many printers do not know the "€" character; graphics mode draws "€".
Header lines / Footer lines Your own text at the top and bottom. Use + Line to add lines and the × to remove them.
Do not cut paper The printer does not cut after this ticket. For printers without a cutter, or when several tickets are torn off in one strip. The paper still feeds so that the last line is visible.
Export / Import Saves the template as a file or loads one – handy for transferring templates to several locations.

Placeholders in header and footer lines: you can have details of your business inserted automatically, e.g. {{firmenname}}, {{adresse}}, {{plzort}} or {{steuernummer}}. A new receipt or day-end template already comes with these lines.

On the right of the editor, the Preview shows the ticket with sample data and refreshes with every change. Save applies your changes; Test print on paper sends a trial ticket to the selected receipt printer.

Preview first, then test print

The preview shows what the printer receives. Whether the print is easy to read on paper, however, you only see in the test print – especially with Density, Font size and Width.

Receipt: the customer receipt

The receipt the guest gets on payment. It is a document relevant for tax purposes: receipt number, date, line items, tax and TSE evidence are required by law and cannot be switched off.

What appears on the ticket

Switch Effect New template
Server A line "Server:" with the name of the person who took the payment. on
Table name A line "Table:" with the table name (table tickets only). on
Sort order Order of the line items: By item (name), By product group, By time (order of entry) or By PLU. By item
Unit price For quantities above 1, additionally the price per piece. off
PLU number The item number before the name. off
Separator line between items A line between the line items. off
Separate product groups Wherever the product group changes, its name is printed as a heading (>> Drinks <<). Useful together with "By product group". Items without a product group are listed at the end without a heading. off
Line item note The note entered at the till ("no ice", "take away") is printed beneath the item. Items without a note stay unchanged. on
Option prices The surcharge is printed after the option (+ 2x Fries 3.00 EUR). Without this switch, all options appear by name only. off
Show options without surcharge Appears when "Option prices" is on: options without a surcharge ("no onions") are also printed with a price column. off
Payment details The payment methods with amounts. Change and tip stay on the ticket even when this is "off". on
Attach card receipt For card payments, the ticket appends the customer receipt from the payment terminal, exactly as the terminal delivers it. This uses additional paper. on
Discount mode None: no discount shown. Total only: one "Discount" line above the total. Per line item: additionally one line per discounted item (the total line stays). None

Two switches are deliberately missing

There is no ticket comment (free text for the whole receipt) at the till. You record notes on the line item; with "Line item note" they appear on the ticket.

Fonts (text mode only)

In text mode you choose the font separately for groups, items and options: A Regular, A Bold, A Large, A Large Bold and the corresponding B variants (the narrower printer font). In graphics mode these three fields do not apply – the single font choice under "Appearance" is used instead.

Appearance, logo and fiscal details

These groups are similar for receipt, voucher and day-end report and are therefore covered in the section Appearance: text or graphics further below. The fiscal details (tax breakdown, tax display, TSE evidence) are mandatory on the customer receipt:

Switch Effect New template
Tax breakdown Net, tax and gross per tax rate. Required by law on the customer receipt – the form warns you if you switch it off. on
Tax display Short form (one line per tax rate) or Matrix. "Off" is not permitted on the customer receipt. More under Tax display. Matrix
TSE evidence Fiscal text only, QR code only or Fiscal text and QR code. At least one of the two is mandatory; "None" is not permitted. The QR code is the verification QR of the TSE, not an advertising QR. More under TSE evidence. Fiscal text and QR code

Example shortened; tax lines and TSE block are only hinted at. Which lines appear depends on the switches above.

More topics around the customer receipt: Hospitality receipt and Card receipt.

Kitchen: the consolidated order ticket

The consolidated order ticket (tab "Kitchen") goes to the kitchen or bar as soon as an order is placed. It combines all items of an order that belong on the same printer. It is not a receipt for the guest – there is no receipt number, no tax and no TSE data.

Always on the consolidated order ticket: the title "ORDER TICKET", table, server and date/time, the pager number when pagers are used, and the delivery address for takeaway orders.

Switch Effect New template
Prices Print the price after every item. Usually unnecessary for the kitchen. off
Sort by group Order the line items by product group (items without a group go to the end). off
Sort by course Order the line items by course (starter, main course …). off
Course heading Wherever the course changes, --- Course 2 --- is printed. Independent of sorting. off
Workstation A line "Workstation:" with the till/target that triggered the ticket. off
PLU before item name The item number before the quantity. Items without a number stay without a gap. off
Separator lines A line between the items. off
Group name Wherever the product group changes, >> Pizza << is printed. off
Print default options Also print the item's options and add-ons (e.g. "no onions", "+ extra cheese"). Keep this on for the kitchen almost always – without it the cook misses the guest's wishes. on
Wrap long item names Long names are spread over several lines instead of being cut off. With double-width font, DiKAS always wraps by itself. off
Group font / Item font / Options font Font per area (Regular, Bold, Large, Large Bold – each in A and B). With "A Large Bold" for the items, cooks can read the ticket from a distance. Regular

Course and group: who orders what?

The course is the outer concept, the product group the inner one: if you sort by both, the group appears inside each course. "Sort" and "Heading" are two separate switches – if you only want the heading without changing the order, set only that one. Without sorting, the order of entry is kept, even on every reprint.

One ticket per course?

The consolidated order ticket structures within one ticket. If the kitchen should receive the courses at different times (each course as its own ticket), release the courses at the table – that is a different route than this switch.

What the consolidated order ticket looks like

With "Sort by course", "Course heading" and "Group name":

==========================================
               ORDER TICKET
Table: 12
Server: Federico
Date: 23.10.2026 19:42
------------------------------------------
             --- Course 1 ---
              >> Starters <<
1x Bruschetta
             --- Course 2 ---
               >> Pizza <<
2x Pizza Margherita
   + Extra cheese
1x Pizza Salami
   no onions
------------------------------------------

Extra ticket: targeted routing

The extra ticket goes to one specific printer – for example the bar for drinks or the pizza station – independently of the consolidated order ticket. Which items land on an extra ticket you set on the item (ExtraBon — Targeted order routing). Here you only set the appearance.

Always on the extra ticket: the title "STATION TICKET", the name of the target, table, server, date/time, and if applicable pager number and delivery address.

Switch Effect New template
Price Print the price after every item. off
PLU The item number before the quantity. off
Print default options Also print the item's options and add-ons. on

The extra ticket deliberately has fewer switches than the consolidated order ticket: it should be short and quick to read. There is no logo on the kitchen and extra tickets; they are printed as plain text.

==========================================
              STATION TICKET
                   Bar
Table: 12
Server: Federico
Date: 23.10.2026 19:42
------------------------------------------
3x Cola 0.33
2x Wheat beer 0.5
   + no foam
------------------------------------------

Void: the counter-document

When a receipt is voided, DiKAS prints a void ticket. It is a fiscal counter-document and therefore carries the same mandatory details as the customer receipt.

Switch Effect New template
Signature field A "Signature" line at the bottom of the ticket, e.g. for confirmation by the guest or the manager. off
Payment details The refunded payment methods with amounts. on

What cannot be set: tax breakdown, fiscal text and verification QR are always taken from the "Receipt" template by the void ticket. The void ticket is always printed as text.

Header and footer lines: as long as you have not saved anything in the "Void" tab, the void ticket takes over the header and footer lines of the receipt template and adds the marking "CANCELLATION" (cancellation). As soon as you save the tab once, the lines are yours.

Always on the void ticket: the title "VOID", receipt number, the reason for the void ("Reason:") and the reference to the original receipt ("Ref. receipt:"). For card payments the note "CARD PAYMENT – VOID" appears.

Day-end report: the Z-ticket

The Z-ticket is the paper form of the Z-report. It has the most switches (sales breakdown, itemised expenses, vouchers, customer credit, staff …) and its own detailed page:

→ End-of-Day Report: The printed Z-ticket – layout and print options

In short: the "Day-end report" tab contains Payment methods, Sales breakdown, Expenses, Itemise expenses in the cash block, Vouchers, Customer credit, Staff settlements, Tax breakdown and TSE information. In addition there are the shared fields (width, header/footer lines, logo) described on this page. The logo on the day-end report applies to the Z-ticket and the cash-up ticket.

Voucher

When a voucher is sold, DiKAS prints it automatically and separately from the receipt. It is a value voucher with a number and a QR code.

Switch Effect New template
Company details Your address and contact details in the header of the voucher. on
Valid-until date Print the expiry date. on
Custom text (e.g. redemption terms) Free text, e.g. redemption terms ("Redeemable at our location only"). empty
QR content Voucher number (factory setting) or Shop link. The number can be read by any phone camera and any till scanner. Number
Print logo Your logo in the header of the voucher, instead of the company name. Makes the voucher longer. off
Style (graphics mode only) Frame, Brand panel, Compact or Gift. Frame

Always a QR code, never a barcode

Every voucher carries a QR code – this cannot be switched off. The voucher no longer prints a barcode (Code 128). The voucher number is also printed in readable form in every style: if a scanner cannot read the QR, it is typed in at the till. Pure laser hand scanners cannot read QR codes; an imager scanner or the tablet's camera can.

Issuing, redeeming and scanning vouchers: Vouchers.

Appearance: text or graphics (for all ticket types)

The Appearance section determines the look. It appears on all tabs with matching fields; which fields are visible depends on the ticket type.

Field Effect
Print ticket as Text: the printer prints characters in its own font – fast, economical, robust. Graphics: the ticket is drawn as an image – with a free choice of font, logo and style.
Style Graphics mode only. For the customer receipt Classic or Brand panel, for the voucher Frame, Brand panel, Compact or Gift.
Density Graphics mode only: Airy or Compact (less spacing, shorter ticket). No effect on the voucher.
Font size Graphics mode only, in percent.
Length limit (mm) Graphics mode only: if the ticket becomes longer than this value, DiKAS redraws it once in a more compact form and, if necessary, prints it as a text ticket. 0 means: no limit.
Font Graphics mode only: the typeface of the ticket. Upload custom font (.ttf/.otf, 2 MB at most) is reserved for administrators; you must confirm that you hold the usage rights.
Print logo Prints the logo – on Receipt, Day-end report and Voucher. There is one logo for all tickets; the checkbox only decides whether this template prints it. Uploading and resetting are reserved for administrators; PNGs up to 384 px wide with high contrast are recommended.

Fiscal details stay in the default font

TSE signature, tax breakdown and verification value are always set in the default font, even if you have chosen a handwriting font – for auditability. Everything else follows your choice.

More on graphics mode: Graphics ticket: the receipt as an image and Logo on the ticket.

Frequently Asked Questions

The cook cannot see the guest's wishes. "Print default options" must be on in the Kitchen tab (and for the extra ticket).

The surcharge for the option is missing on the customer receipt. Switch on "Option prices" in the Receipt tab. Options without a surcharge only appear with "Show options without surcharge".

My logo does not appear on the kitchen ticket. Kitchen and extra tickets are plain text tickets without a logo. The logo exists for Receipt, Day-end report and Voucher.

I changed something but the ticket looks the same. Changes only apply after Save. After that, every new ticket – and every reprint – uses the new template.

The customer receipt cannot be saved without a tax breakdown or without TSE evidence. Both are required by law on the customer receipt (KassenSichV). The form warns you and does not allow "None".

I would like two different kitchen tickets (kitchen and bar). The appearance is one template per type. Where each item is printed is controlled by printers and item print options – see Printer control.
